REPORT:

Teams started arriving at 7am on a mild winter’s day in Port Elizabeth and play got off to a start just before 10 after the players took the #NoExcuse pledge and sang the national anthem.

  • Throughout the day spectators drifted in and out to enjoy the action. None of the standby medics were needed as the officials controlled play well.

  • Our camera lady Leigh captured testimonies from players, officials and spectators enthusing about the event and the importance of the message it carried.

  • The final match was a hard fought and passionate affair which ended in a penalty shoot out and much celebration as the winning team received the trophy.

  • A highly successful event ended with the #NoExcuse message carried back into many communities by tired yet inspired participants.
