We partnered with The Character Company (TCC) to take the 10 mentors we selected from Alex through a 3-day, 2-night experiential training programme in the foothills of the Magaliesburg mountains.

  • The purpose of the programme was to equip the men to run champion conversations with men from Alex and to build them into a tightly knit band of brothers who will support and stand with each other as they implement the Alex Champions for Change roll-out.

  • Activities consisted of a guided nature walk, a night hike, facilitated conversations, solo time, teaching sessions, a fear-overcoming river-leap and an honouring ceremony.

  • It was a rich and transformative time. The men were taken through the #NoExcuse For Abuse material and the six-pack of champion virtues. They were also introduced to principles for mentoring other men and the five character-virtues.

  • The three days culminated in a ceremony where each man was honoured by the other men and then given an opportunity to make a personal statement of commitment to bring change and healing to the Alexandra community.
